Hi!
My name is Sam Sanchez and for the entire 26 years I have been on this earth, I have been sick. It started when I got an infection as a fetus while still in the womb. When I finally saw the foreign lights outside of the womb, I wasn’t breathing and almost didn’t make it out of the intensive care unit. Ever since then my life has rotated around infections, surgeries, allergic reactions and unexplained ailments.
Things took a turn for the worse about six years ago, and became more aggressive within the past two years. Instead of wallowing in my pain, I thought I would put my journalism degree to some use and start writing about my experiences. I now have approximately eight different diseases/ailments, and more problems that are still under investigation. I take a bag of medication every day. I just want to be happy, healthy and most importantly to feel well. I have often wondered if that is asking too much.
This blog is meant to showcase my trials and tribulations and to uncover what really goes on beyond the waiting room with those that wear the highly regarded white lab coat. I hope that others can possibly find solace from my experiences, and that I can possibly find comfort from sharing them. Until next time,
Sam
